This is one tasty way to include Flax Seeds in your diet! It is flavorful and ensures you get your dose of Omega 3 fatty acids along with its other benefits.
Serve with idlis, dosas, sprinkle over veg stir fries or even add to your roti dough.
Ingredients:
1 tsp sesame oil
1/2 cup urad dal
1/2 cup chana dal
3/4 cup flax seeds
1/3 cup black sesame seeds
15 byadgi chillies
10 guntur chillies
15g tamarind
salt to taste
1 tsp jaggery (optional)
1/4 tsp asafoetida
Method:
1. Heat 1/5 tsp oil & roast urad dal till turns golden, set aside.
2. Roast chana dal till changes colour, set aside.
3. Dry roast flax seeds till starts to pop, set aside.
4. Dry roast black sesame seeds till crackles, set aside.
5. Heat remaining oil, roast the chillies, also add tamarind.
6. Let cool, add salt, jaggery, asafoetida. Grind all together to slight coarse powder.
7. Store in airtight container & use as required.
Notes:
1. Can also add curry leaves, roast well till crisp & grind with remaining ingredients.
2. Can add white sesame seeds instead of black, then roast well till crackles/ changes colour.
