A gravy dish that is popular in North Karnataka and is a perfect accompaniment to Jola Rottis (jowar flour flatbread) or even chapathis. The main ingredients of the sauce are tamarind, peanuts and coconut. Blend of few other spices make this dish lip smacking! Keep it slightly on the spicier side as is the authentic version.

The Tart Shell Experiment

 
 
 
The easy, simple way out sure tempts one to opt for it sometimes, but no doubt the challenging ones beckon you too quite often!
 
One of my experiences that made me conclude the above was the making of the perfect tart shell. Everywhere I kept reading people`s opinion on how complicated it was to knead the perfect dough. And then instead of being put off by these not-so-happy experiences of others, I decided to try it out for myself before arriving at this common conclusion.

A typical South Karnataka meal differs a lot from the North Karnataka cuisine. A South Karnataka meal mainly includes seafood owing to its nearness to the sea. Rice is a staple of this region and is served with all traditional curries or raw rice is ground and batter thinned down and made into soft and thin rice crepes called neer dosa. Another special of this region – Shemige is also made from rice.

Just some dry fruits and nuts of your choice combined together till well mixed. This has got to be the simplest yet a royal sweet recipe I have ever come across!
